The One Daily Habit That Helped Me Feel Like Myself Again During Perimenopause

The One Daily Habit That Helped Me Feel Like Myself Again During Perimenopause

A few months ago, I hit a wall.

The kind of wall where no amount of sleep seems to help, bloating is constant, and the brain fog is so thick it’s hard to think straight — let alone make healthy decisions. I was tired, heavy, irritable, and just... off. I didn’t feel like myself anymore.

If you’re in perimenopause or menopause, you might know exactly what I mean.

I was trying to push through it — showing up for my family, working, doing all the things. But inside, I was running on empty.

And like many women, I had an overflowing cupboard full of supplements. Each one had felt like a good idea at the time. Gut health, inflammation, stress, hormones — all the “must-haves.” But I wasn’t being consistent with any of them.

And when you’re exhausted and overwhelmed, everything feels like too much — even opening a bottle of vitamins.

Eventually, I gave myself permission to stop everything.
Not out of defeat — but out of clarity. I needed to strip it back to basics so I could actually listen to my body and figure out what was helping… and what wasn’t.

I asked myself: What’s one simple thing I could do that made logical sense — that would support my body in a foundational way, without adding to the overwhelm?

That’s when I came back to something I’d used years ago — a whole food-based supplement pack I’d taken on and off for over a decade. I remembered that every time I actually stuck with it, I felt lighter, more focused, and more emotionally stable.

So I committed.

Not perfectly — but consistently. I treated it like something serious. Like something I deserved to take seriously.

And within two weeks, the difference was undeniable.

My energy went from a dragging 3/10 to a steady 5/10.
That might not sound like a massive leap, but when you’ve been running on fumes, it’s everything.

Fast forward four months, and here’s where I am now:

  • My moods feel more stable

  • The “dead week” right after my cycle has pretty much disappeared

  • The bloating is manageable

  • I’m moving through my days with more ease — and I’m finally starting to feel like myself again

What’s more? I now have the energy to make the next layer of changes — the ones that used to feel overwhelming.

I’ve started adding in more nutrient-dense foods, more movement, and building in small habits that support my health instead of draining it. These were things I wanted to do for a long time, but simply didn’t have the capacity to act on.

And that’s the piece I want to emphasize:
No, you can’t out-supplement a poor diet or lifestyle. But when your body is depleted and your nervous system is running on fumes, a well-chosen supplement can offer the boost you need to get started.

It’s not about shortcuts — it’s about support.

It’s not about doing everything — it’s about doing one thing, well.

PS: If you’re curious, this is the supplement pack I used. I also started pairing it with a handmade essential oil roller bottle I apply during my morning routine — a gentle nudge to anchor into motivation and self-care. I’ll share more about that blend in an upcoming post.
